I got to go see
Belle tonight and it is fantastic. It's so subtle, so nuanced.
Like the scene where Mabel shows Dido the best way to brush her hair, saying she herself learned from her mother, and it's this warm moment where they're smiling at each other, but behind that is the unspoken fact that Dido didn't learn this until now because she was raised by white people who don't know shit about how to handle her hair. And that's just one of the amazing moments. Seriously, it blew me away. See it if you get the chance!
