I think one of the things I enjoyed most was the sense of personal development I got for my character in a very short space of time. I constructed a quiet, shy persona and then in the initial stages of the game found it impossible to contribute to the robust group discussions with the result that during the test my character looked pretty ( Read more... )

Also although I knew some of the people there I didn't know all of them and there is always something special about the first time you role-play with someone you have never met before. RPing with someone you don't know anything about gives you the purest reactions.

It has been theorised on more than one occasion that this is why so many people's favourite Society Game was their first.

I have a briefcase if you want to borrow it, from when I went to an interview at the FT and thought turning up with a briefcase might be slightly more professional than turning up with a bag from Forbidden Planet (which is what I had before I bought the briefcase).

I also have some handcuffs (for, um, other reasons...) which I was planning to use in conjunction with the briefcase if I ever got my agency tabletop off the ground. Despite not requiring a costume it'd still work, I think.

(Suit, sunglasses, one half of some earphones from my mp3 player, and handcuffed to the briefcase (with my GM notes in). Perfect stereotypical government agent look.)
