Amy and I are going on the birthright trip to Israel on May 18, Mayanot Bus 46. I'm so excited! I've pretty much been jumping up and down all day...the adrenaline rush is finally winding down:-p

whoa, I don't know how this entry posted here....this one was supposed to be in a lj community for people on birthright. oops! But thanks, I'll definitely check with her!
I went with my school at three winters ago. It was really just my school in the group plus 2 or 3 extra people (so the group was really small). Also my group was pretty religious, since my school is religious, but it didn't change anything for the trip. It was seriously the best trip. They take you touring all over and you can definitely extend your trip (I highly recommend that... I wasn't able to due to school but my sister did that last yr and stay 2 weeks extra). Enjoy every moment!!
i did birthright...AMAZING, will surely change your life...in fact, i find out in like a week whether i got accepted or not to go back in the summer to staff a trip, that's seriously how much fun i had! and def extend, so worth it, i wish i could have. bring sunscreeeeeen!
Oooh, cool! Let me know if you get in-- will you extend this year if you do? (Or do you have to fly back with the group?)
Also, my dad is concerned that they're going to brainwash me. I know there's some Zionist-based lectures, but for the record (so I can tell my dad-- I'm not super concerned about this) did anyone tell you that because you were Jewish, you had to join the Israeli military?
ha!!!! no no no, i promise you no brainwashing...i went through Oranim at least, which is probably the most "lax" of all the birthright groups, who are you going with? and no, they will not brainwash you into thinking you have to join the army, just want you to go home with a new love/appreciation for israel, that's all :) you can tell your dad i said so! and yes, i'm probably going to extend if i get in, but i'll just stay in israel to see friends i met last time i was there/family.
lolll, thank you. I'm going with Mayanot; they're orthodox but I've heard really cool things about them as well. Aish is the one that I hear is a bit more strongly Zionist, but I still can't imagine them telling anyone (OR anyone being convinced) that they have to join the Israeli army because they're Jewish:-p
I went on Birthright with Mayanot too! I went a year and a half ago and it was amazing. I am not religious at all and I didn't feel like the trip was ultra Orthodox. Also, I had heard I would be pressured to join the army too but I honestly wasn't. That's awesome that you're extending your trip, I wish I had
