If you want a specific style, try a shop called Unicorn on Ship Street, down by the church on the main street. It's a mess in there, and the owner is eccentric, but tell her what you'd like, and she'll go through the mound to find some things. Perhaps you'll find something.

QI bar/bookshop is a highly elitist drinking establishment frequented by Exeter and Jesus College undergrads. Do not eat there in any circumstance and why oh why are the books arranged in themes?. Excellent for browsing fiction/non fiction/animated books to do with 'drain covers', crap for actually obtaining what you want.

It is owned by Stephen Fry - I always considered the membership to be well over a grand, but i may be wrong.

Come the revolution, the books are to be re-arranged the place will be burnt.
