Hello from California!

Dec 09, 2013 10:25

Currently I'm hanging out with the best friend and the best friend's new(ish) attachment, which is my awesome nephew (the Dragonlet). He's over in the corner playing with his race cars and making "vrooooom" noises and occasionally shooting over devastatingly charming smiles. I've been here since Friday, when I got to meet up with my beta Max for a ( Read more... )

Cormorants?

(Its weird that that is the thing that jumped out at me from this entire post. But there you go. :P Hope you have a fantastic time though! I envy your sunny weather. Over here in the UK its just gray and gray and gray. The usual, really.)

Yeah, that's what my friend called them. I of course answered with "Corianders" which I knew was wrong. :) And tomorrow I have to fly back to where the weather stinks, so I'm really, really not looking forward to it. Ughhhhhh. :(

You've not even got snow where ever you're flying back to? Or you've got too much snow?

We've got some snow, but mostly we've got ice and cold. Basically, I want to stay on the California coastline, please.

Aquariums and zoos are amazing, especially with little 'uns. Glad you're having fun! :)

The Monterey Aquarium has a lot of great interactive places for the kids to play. Plus, I got to touch a sea cucumber, so it all worked out really well. Dragonlet had a blast.

How's things with you??

Things with me are bleh, but they'll be better a couple of weeks from now. Besides from that, I'm really excited about this screenplay I'm writing. It's gonna be great, although somehow I ended up writing about super serious topics instead of the happy fun stuff I was planning. Gotta follow the muse, I suppose.

I never know what I'm going to write next, if it's going to be super serious or if I'm going to produce a sheer ton of crack. So I totally get the following the muse. Too bad the muse is temperamental and doesn't believe in going to logical places. ;) Glad things are going to get better!!!

Sounds like you're having a most excellent time! Please share more pictures of nice, sunny weather -- I'm getting snow and ice here on the other coast.

Your post gave a bit of an 80's flash back when I read beta Max, suddenly I'm in middle school and my brother's bringing home this awesome new technology -- video cassette tapes/players!

Definitely having the most excellent of times. I don't want to leave tomorrow!! We had fried artichoke hearts from a local food truck today that were amazing, and I got my dad some pistachios and my brother-in-law some ghost pepper sauce that I hope he'll enjoy. It's been a whole experience. And very soon I'll put up a buuuuunch of pictures that I took (I've probably taken 400 pictures this weekend) and you'll be super-jealous, but remember, by the time you see them, I'll be stuck in the ice and snow, too.

hahahahahaha, I didn't even consider that. I think I did call him betamax at one point. But mostly I just call him Beta Dude. It was great getting to see him again.

Sounds you're having a grand old time. Jealous! And yes, aquariums with little ones are a blast. I remember kidlet seeing her first one at 18 months, after we'd been reading her "Who's In The Sea" for weeks. I still remember the jubilant "FISH!!!!", when she realized what she was looking at, and then it was "Hello, fish!" "Goodbye, fish!" as we went from one tank to the other ...

What's up here? Desperately trying to stop my minions from sending me to darkest Russia next week. I really, really don't want to go, even if my refusal leaves me a couple thousand miles short of re-earning my "super elite" status with Air Canada. I mean, seriously. There are limits. Plus, my mother-in-law gets here on Friday, and I'm the DMZ.

Oh, and I've managed to stick your pashmina into an (addressed!!!) bubble envelope. Now all I have to do is get it to a post office...

Awwww, that sounds adorable! Dragonlet's been to this aquarium a few times, as he was an old hat and knew where he could go play (they've got some touch pools and a whole kid's area with these plastic aprons so the kids don't get soaked...that do not work at all). And we saw some baby clownfish that he adored. It was more fun watching him than watching the animals sometimes, I think. They have a wave simulator and a whole bunch of other great stuff. But I'm laughing at "Hello, fish!" and "Goodbye, fish!"

Wow, Russia in December? I do not envy you that part of your job. Are you sure you want to miss out on the super elite status, though? I mean, wow. Super elite. ;)

It's okay if you haven't mailed the pashmina. I got the money out of an ATM and I was going to mail it on the way to the airport, but we had an ice storm and I'm glad I escaped to the airport at all!!
