[See Scout. See Scout run. Run Scout, run! Anyone passing him by this morning is free to try and stop/talk to him, but he's in a rather foul mood
( Read more... )
[McCanns were never taught to think, they were taught to fight. And Scout, being the youngest of the clan, has a lot of training. It's almost like a reflex. He immediately socks Ed on the jaw - not his hardest punch, but enough to get his point across.]
Well surprise, cuz here I am, ya stupid bastard! Ya better have the best explanation in tha world for what was goin' on there, or I'll really bash yer skull in!
Probably? More like definitely! How stupid are you? Grady's not on anyone's side but his own! Ya think sellin' people out 's the way ta get ahead in this place?!
[Scout will actually catch Ema on her way out of the house; when she opens the door, she has her coat on and a bag packed. Things have been... exciting in her house this morning and she doesn't plan on spending the night.
She blinks at the pair in disbelief, a whole gamut of emotions crossing her face ranging from relief to pain to anger to guilt. Finally, she just hugs him tightly. At the very least, she knows she can trust him... the three of them were family, once. And both Scout and Ai have proven that she means something to them.]
[Ema releases him fairly quickly, giving him a weak smile.] Still. He really... played us for the fool, you know?
At least we know better now.
[She turns to Ai then, crouching and giving the girl the same smile she's just given Scout.] And it's been awhile since I've seen you. How have you been?
[Scout's got a one-track mind, and that mind is focusing on the guy he wants to punch right now. He trips on the trap, but is aware enough to not fall on his face. He stumbles, skids to a halt, and looks around to see what on earth just tripped over.]
[There's something familiar about this guy, but Scout can't put his finger about it. But, Mayfield's got a lot of people in it, and Scout's been in town a long time.]
Ya ain't freakin' kiddin'.
[Though he gives the ground one last glance. He didn't slip, he tripped. Well, whatever.]

Hey, hey. Neither of us thought he'd be so dumb, right? Don't worry about it.
