It's kind of off the topic. In the periodic table, Tungsten is represented as "W" because of the Latin name for it "Wolfram." I'm totally naming one of my kids that, at least as a middle name.
I wish they kept the latin names for the elements.
Then everyone would be buying 18k aurum rings for their SO.

And lead is represented as Pb, coming from the Latin, Plumbum. Derivatives of "plumbum" include "plumbing" (referring to the lead pipes that used to be the norm) and "plumber."
