I have asked myself a similar question also. Many say that the answer to the world's problems is education, but this is not true. Those that are good and become educated and therefore knowledgeable will still be good. Those that are bad will now be knowledgeable and still be bad. Now we have knowledgeable killers that are able to carry out their misdeeds in a more effective and intelligent way. Unfortunately, people are inherently evil. Yes knowledge can be a weapon of mass destruction and evil, but fortunately it can also be the greatest tool to combat it.
