I mashed my bass drum head in high school marching band, during the 1986 Rose Parade, in fact. I got the entire drum line to sign it.

Our ex-drummer Jonathen broke an aquarius bass head during practice, and it wasn't even a bass heavy song. I guess your legs get stronger and the bass head gets weaker. I don't know though... my knowledge of drums is limited.

Animal was using a double pedal on my kit when he broke it. Jonathen used a double pedal as well. Perhaps there is some issue with the point of impact and the head response to a double pedal. There shouldn't be, because the point of impact would be as varied in a concert bass drum, played with two hand mallets, and the tuning is even looser on those. I cracked the head myself when I auditioned for that metal band. I think it's still a matter of overplaying. I know I was guilty as charged that day.

The SKII is a pretty thick head. It's kinda like Kevin snapping his B string. Certainly possible, but only under extreme circumstances.
