They just don't understand that these are gifts of love on your part. I don't think you can change this.

Sadly, cats are born to hunt; it's in their DNA and will never change. There's a cat which hides out by my bird feeders and I am not always successful in seeing him when he's stalking, even though I cut back on the underside of the bush he hid under. Now he just lays in the grass and waits. Can't undo centuries of evolution.
