Extremadura again....

B and S have been to Extremadura again. Highlight was a 5 hour stay in a bird hide watching a vulture feast.

First bird to start the banquet was an elegant white stork - keeping dodgy company and habits!

What was interesting was that during the rumpus lots of vultures lost feathers, and as soon as there was a quiet spell sparrows descended to take them back to their nests. Waste not want not.

Decided to not look too closely at their supper. The azure winged magpies are gorgeous!

Thank-you. Yes, best to avoid the food detail. It looked disgusting and I was glad I did not travel to the hide in the van that had the bins containing it. The magpies are lovely, but if you think they are pretty look up bee-eaters.

Marvelous pics! I especially loved the Hoopoe bird and the Magpies. I do love to see pics of birds that I will never see in actuality.

Hoopoes not only look great, but they have a call that is a distinctive part of the Soundtrack of Extremadura.
