I did a spectacular jump yesterday, right into the middle of the stinking wet pond! Pah! Water weed has stopped coming out of my ears.

Extremadura, in western Spain was our destination in early April. The attraction for me is the stunning wildlife and it is especially good for birds. This is El Recuerdo, a small Casa Rusal (country guest house) we stayed in, with Ellie exploring the garden. It is run by an English ornithologist and his Columbian wife. Doing my best to be popular. One of us killed a lizard in the garden this week. Then sneaked into the bedroom and woke B up at 5 am by playing catch with one of his feet. Expected to be given a treat but got thrown out into the garden!

Last weekend I emptied the compost bin, for the first time in over a year.
