The stupid is spreading

Yeah this is silly and it's really a matter of how the question is asked. How much do I want to pay in taxes? 0%. But I recognize that my letters to put up some street signs in Boston will not only go unanswered if that happens, they'll go unopened.

The inefficient structure of unionized government jobs will prevent non-value added positions from being eliminated. All of the cost reductions that would be implemented after the purse strings were cut would come from service that directly affect citizens. They need to bring in some efficiency experts (like engineers, not like office space) to improve their processes and through cost reduction efforts prove they can produce a budget surplus. Then they should apply it towards the big dig debt with a 5 year goal of eliminating the need to collect any tolls in MA. If that is acheived and a further surplus can be demonstrated, then they should lower the income tax rate without a need to ask us.

sow, reap, etc.

If you insist on treating people like idiots, eventually they'll start acting like idiots. The payback for decades of soundbite politics and watered down black and white "issues" is beginning.

...and of course, stolen from Doug stealing from justice Oliver Wendell Holmes: "I like paying taxes. With them I buy civilization."

Being all high-and-mighty is easy, though. How do we fix it? Hm...
