I read celebrity gossip to feel smart again

A friend of mine sent me this article and it made me feel a whole lot better about myself and I think it really captures the way I feel all of the time. Though it's about scientists, it can be easily translated to other professions as well.

hey, that's good stuff... and it makes a very marketable (and easily misinterpreted) t-shirt, "ignorant by choice".

Amen. I would like to add that a lot of scientific research deals with creativity and experimentation, and oftentimes, happens by accident.

As a parent, I have to do a lot of reading, research, and experimentation to see what works best for my child in order for her to be a happy, functioning member of society. I often follow my pediatrician's recommendations, but if that doesn't work, I try to analyze her behavior and experiment with what would work best. You also have to ask other people's advice who have experience in the field (as in science)...and sometimes, there is an art to the every day observation and interaction that makes raising children fun.

And yeah, we all feel stupid, but we muddle through as best we can.
