Toss in something about the fledgling counter culture movement, and you may have most of it. Look up "Beat Generation" Try Wiki, they shoudl have something. Poets, free love, tons of interesting things. All under currents to the supression that Joe Macarthy and his ilk were forcing on the rest of the country. Also there was a very interesting movie awhile back, let me see if I an find it

Thanks. It's just a review for the AP exam, so things won't be overly-detailed, as they have to cover a good 200 years of history. Hmm...not sure why I forgot to mention the beatniks...or Elvis. Oops.
