I made a book! A forreal hardcover book with fabric on the spine!
It measures 4x6 almost exactly, and is full of reused materials:
-The fabric on the hinge and spine was leftover cotton from when my mom took a quilting class when my brother was a baby. I made it into bookcloth myself by attaching it to paper.
-The cardboard I reused from a horribly out of date history book that I got from a library in the middle of nowhere, NY, that had previously belonged to a community college. The book was for sale, I didn't just forget to return it.
-The pages are from a sketch pad in our art supply cabinet that is years and years old.
-The cover paper I made myself! Yesterday! With my grandma!
-The glue was a mixture of me-made and pre-made, because half of it was white glue and the other half was a cornstarch and water mix (exactly the same as the paste I used to make the paper, only sitting out longer)
The only thing that I didn't in some way make is the endpapers, which are from my scrapbooking things and therefore acid free, unlike the real paper. So it won't last forever, but it is exciting for now and the next 20 years. Yay!
Beautifulness.
