He tilted it over as the top drained. Didn't look back.

"I never left it in the first place."

"Didn't you? In either case, I'm not interested."

Drained. Turned again.

"You don't have a choice."

"Do I n-"

Yahtzee went silent when Bloom threw a mantel clock through the miniature hourglass, leaving his hand hovering over broken glass. He heard the quick approach, but didn't turn, his eyes stuck on the sand draining away and falling to the floor.

He might have been king once.

But in his only memories, of wearing a crown, they were both pawns.

The room was rubble. Survivors scattered.

He said one thing. Made a familiar gesture. He heard something else.

"Don't make me pick another target, Pharaoh."

The thief smirked.

"I'll dye the Nile red with the blood of your priests and the people of this city."

His resolve broke. Another will slipped through the cracks.

"I will fight you. But when it's over," he said, fully aware he would be a certain mess. Bruised, broken bones, or worse, his blessing

Oh, goodness, these are positively adorable!! Thank you so much. <3 I love how sassy and bossy Mali is - it's perfect. Poor Seiran, though she's a dear here as well. Marlicks are high-maintenance at any age, Seiran, and for that I apologize.....
