Okay, eventually I'm just going to give up on ever doing that Big London Post. For now I'm still optimistic, and will continue to believe in my ability to condense two months of experience into one epic post. At a later date, um.

anyway: TODAY I SAW THE QUEEN!

After a week of fireworks and bonfires (seee: Battersea Park's ability to choreograph both to Bittersweet Symphony) leading up to Guy Fawkes Night and then this morning to the Opening of Parliament. We showed up earlyearly, but we were right across from Parliament, up against the rails and making friends with the heavily-armed Met police. We were about twenty feet away when the big gaudy carraiges passed, and even though I have a blurry picture of the back of her head, she waved over at us afterwards. Or at the protesters next to us, who cares. It was fantastic, though, and only made better by the vast array of funny hats and the marching band's rendition of Star Wars. Is the Imperial March ironic, in this context?

Tomorrow we head for Ireland, but first I had to share my most British experience with the world. This city is so cool!
