Julia: so my sister's getting married next weekend.
Jordan: shit.
Ryan: uhh, wouldn't 'congratulations' or 'that's great' be more a more appropriate response?
Julia: she's 17.
Ryan: shit.
Julia: yeah, she won't even be able to drink when she gets divorced.

lol.

I'm kind of in the same stage of life. some friends of my friends are getting married in their very early twenties/late teens I hear about it in passing and it's usually with a negative undertone. The other day I heard this from Brittany: "My best friend is getting married to the Taco-Bell Manager."
I thought it was funny that he apparently didn't have a name.

Then there's the [many] snowbird staffers that are getting married. They have my full support, because I know they're ready and they're doing it for the right reasons. They are more mature and wiser in than some adults I know. (Just to give you an idea how seriously they take marriage; One of the staffers is currently in a 40 day fast praying about beginning a relationship leading towards marriage.)

not to downplay the seriousness of marriage or anything, but, in my opinion, dating should be light at first. When you're still kinda getting to know each other, a 40 day fast is a huge leap of commitment. I see so many people so worried about if God wants them to get married, that they forget to look carefully at the person they could possibly marry. Sure, dating without a possibility of marriage is pointless, but dating with marriage imminent seems like a pretty bad idea as well.
