We always make mistakes, it's human nature. All we can do is try to learn from them and not make the same one twice.
You are a good person Alan. I've told you this and so have others. I know how it is to come down on yourself, to believe on some level that everyone is deseving of love except ourselves. We are our own worst critics and enemies. But sometimes we have to turn to the people we love and trust and allow ourselves to believe them 9even if it's just a little bit) when they tell us we are special and worth-while.
If you are being self-destructive, only you can stop it. I wish I knew of a magic cure... but I fall prey to it too often myself. Don't be afraid, Alan, take a chance. What's the worse that can happen? That you'll be miserable? Aren't you fortelling that anyway?

I don't know what it is. I don't know if my depression is taking over, if I am just scared of loving someone so much. I feel things that I have never felt before, good and bad. I am so worried, yet so happy. It just seems that you shouldn't make mistakes with people you love, I hate to cause people hurt.
Like I said, Alan, it's impossible not to make mistakes... once you accept this basic truth, life becomes fractionally easier. I know how hard depression can be. I wish I knew of an answer there. I don't though, besides just getting out there and doing what you have to. But sometimes, that's enough. Just don't give in or it wins.
As for love... I agree, it is fucking scary as hell. The risks are high... but so are the rewards. I say take the risk. You may lose out, but if you never take it, you'll regret it always anyway...
