Very very VERY well put. I agree 100%. People are so used to steriotypical rubish they've forgotten what music is. It isn't about getting attention from the media or any of that. It's about the art, if any band can honestly say they would gladly do their job for free, and wouldn't even want the media to have anything to do with them, then that is when you know they're true musicians. Take Britney Spears, she is what the media lives off of. She's done crazy things like making out with Madana and marrying some guy for one day just to be seen by the media. Porcupine Tree does it all for the passion of music. You can just tell how much they love the music and they're all talented in their own way, there's something great about all of their songs, some are more heavy metal than others, some are on a sadder tone, some on piano, guitar, and Steven is just a great writer. His songs have some sort of special meaning, not just drugs sex and suicide, much like what these "teenage rebelion" bands do these days. A lot of songs don't even make any ( ... )

Oh, and get this. Some jouranlist, whose favorite bands are shit like Beasty Boys and Linkin Park and stuff, said that Porcupine Tree's songs sounded like stuff you'd listen to when you're playing "Dungeons and Dragons". Steven mentioned it at the concert I went to, and he said stupid people like these seriously dont know what the hell music is anymore. If you pay attention and really get into Porcupine Tree's music, it has nothing to do with Dungeons and Dragons.

Er... please keep in mind that the last time we all started discussing Britney Spears and the like, we ended up having a flame war and hating each other for a while. I don't really listen to Porcupine Tree (except for the songs that Erin sent me), but I think they sound good. My fave bands are LP and Evanescence, so... yeah. Just no flaming and shit, OK? I don't want to get in another fight.
