Another Week... Sigh

Nov 03, 2008 10:13

Next week is reading week for half of my degree, and two weeks later is reading week for the other half. I'd really love to know who decided to seperate them this year, because for the last two years, they have been in the same week. Seperating them is pointless since we're supposed to use the time to work on our essays but I suppose only having ( Read more... )

*hugs* That's awful you still feel poorly :(

I, too, was a little alarmed by the truck thing, and also noticed the lack of seatbelts. Its wierd - and good, really - there's been less tabloid fuss!

I totally understand the postponing thing...I do that. I hope everything works out, though. YOu seem to be doing amazingly so far :)

(hey, we *must* do coffee when I'm back in Soton for more than a day! So much to talk about...as long as you don't mind meeting a fusty lecturers wife ;))

Usually they're pretty good about the seatbelts... considering the stunts they were doing in those trucks, I am SHOCKED that Health & Safety didn't put them in if they weren't already there. I'm just waiting for someone to get all heated over it, like the gin & tonic thing. People can be so ridiculous!

Thank you very much :) My mother often reminds me that there are TV stations in Canada and that I should come home... but there's so much about England that I love that I'm not ready to leave yet.

Coffee sounds great! Of course I don't mind - you're a very cool, Top Gear-loving, non-stuffy lecturer's wife, and you're not that much older than I am! lol ;)

Yeah, there's already a fuss in the papers. It's getting a bit annoying...they're so high profile now, I would have thought somebody would have fitted seat-belts!!

Haha, no I don't think I'm *that* much older, but I just wanted to check you didn't mind ;) We talk TG and the joys of working in TV!

In the papers? Really? Goodness. Some people. We saw what happened without the seatbelt and it wasn't good, it's not like it's encouraging people to go seatbeltless!

Sounds excellent to me! :)

I don't think you'll have trouble getting a work permit. They have lots of programs specifically for people taking a short period of time off from school (Gap year thing), so I'm sure you'll qualify. Which reminds me, England's new setup for that stuff should be posted online now, or soon... so I'll have to go check. I qualify for two parts, but the third didn't have all the information up for it yet.

Awesome, you should definitely look into it ;) I think they'll give a work permit to most people that are willing to pay for them and meet some basic criteria (which I do, surely, since I'm here already) but I've heard they are super expensive and I'm not sure if a work permit and a student visa can overlap and etc etc. I think I'll go talk to them about it tomorrow.

Good luck with your reading weeks! The extra walking will help you feel better, it might help clear out your lungs (or it might help you fall asleep in class ;P) That's terrible that you still have your sickness, though :(

Could you imagine if Oliver had been damaged? I suspect there would have been tears from everyone (Hammond because he's in love with that car, and May and Clarkson because Hammond would beat them to a pulp for putting Ollie behind the truck in the first place). Poor Clarkson, though. Just as his back has time to relax, it's pummeled in another dangerous challenge. I bet his wife is sick and tired of him coming home going, "Ow! My back!"

Good luck with the work permit, though I'm sure you won't have any trouble at all. If you do, you can go find May and sleep in his shed :)

Yep, I'm not too happy about still being sick! It's certainly better than it was, but definitely not gone like I was hoping!

Oh man, if Oliver'd been crushed I probably would have cried myself. Heck, my mother probably would have cried - I showed her the Africa episode and then when I was telling her about MPH she totally knew who Oliver the car was. Plus, seeing a heartbroken Hammond can't be easy on anyone, and Jeremy and James would be feeling the wrath of an angry (and devastated) short bloke. Jezza's wife'd be getting him back in pieces that time, lol.

Now that you've said that, I'm contemplating being an illegal alien just so I can go sleep in a shed in Hammersmith! Sounds like a plan to me!
