So the meeting was worthwhile, only because it shot holes all through my five year plan and now I have some serious thinking to do. I have to decide if staying is what I want, if I want to pay another ridiculous amount of money for a masters from an international institution

I can't apply for dual citizenship until I've had some kind of extended leave thing which entitles me to stay in the UK for 10 years. Ten years! Which is all fine and good but the citizenship application requires you to only have left the country a certain number of days in those years, and I don't like having that kind of restraint on my ability to go home.
Or I could just marry an Englishman. I can apply for dual citizenship after I've been married for two years. This is seriously unlikely.
