The First Bloom

OK, so it is just a squill, but it is blooming and it is in the yard, and it is not April 1st yet. Those are my conditions and I stand by them. An unbroken record which I hope to repeat on and on, and, on and on. Every year a new adventure ( Read more... )

Ugh... this reminds me that I need to get cracking on our landscaping... as well as getting the blade of the lawnmower sharpened. I hope the day there is as nice as it is shaping up to be here... 50 degrees and it's not even 9:30 yet!

I think in terms of outdoor spaces to look at and to do things in, then I plant something that promises to be delightful some day. Sort of an organic form of thinking.

I think our gardening theme this year will be "Plants gone Wild!"

I'm not sure where I'll find the time between now and June to do anything. By June, "Twoey" (the attacking rose bush - it's a climbing rose that the previous owners planted on the front hill, it does very well on the hill, it just takes over everything on the hill and sometimes the lawn when we don't cut it back) will be unmanagable.

I had a volunteer rose bush that took over the space under the front ornamental apple and I couldn't bear to cut it back much because I loved the privacy it provided for the front porch. Oh well, our best laid plans....
