The culture I grew up in was largely christian, the education system full of artefacts of that tradition and many reference points which hold us together as a society. Church visits on family occasions, christmas concerts, masses, choral praise, Religious Education classes, hours and hours of wondering when the boredom was going to end. The world ( Read more... )

I want to see where you're heading.

It has never bothered me that God is capitalised*. It's a proper noun. Just like Santa, or Keyser Soze, or Atlantis.

I've never seen anything to make me even consider belief in God(s), but if I did, the claim that God is beyond questioning makes him not worthy of worship. I want nothing to do with a God who makes people intelligent, then bans them from questioning His Plan.

*Am hardened atheist. Though it does annoy me a bit that 'he' is calitalised for God.

God is beyond doubt in the same way that Infinity is beyond numbers - neither actually exist, but both can be used to illuminate things in thought experiments.
