Casting a wider net

I'm not sure how adept I'll be at online web logging (blogging to those much more savvy than I). However, this medium seems to be primed for my effort to interact and listen to people who fall out of my normal purview. The worst part of getting older is your friends tend sift to a limited set of interests and philosophies. So, using the clever ( Read more... )

Writing to an audience isn't easy. My posts are always stilted. I wouldn't worry about it.
Pleasure to make your acqaintance.

I know his name from the Philosophers' drinking song, but otherwise, I'm afraid not. However, always looking to broaden my horizons. What is the main premise of John Stuart Mills' philosophy.

That song is insidious, isn't it? It makes it much harder to do any serious reading, because any time one of those names pops up... I can't even think about Kant anymore, without the whole thing going off in my head. Which is maybe a good thing.

Glad that you decided to add me as a friend...always makes my life more interesting.
*be prepared for totally obvious advice about writing* I'd recommend just writing as you would talk to a friend, or yourself. That's usually the route I take.

I will try your friend style. It's strange because I usually work better in response than initiation. This is probably good for me, and perhaps will allow me to gain greater understanding of writing. I'm much more of a science geek. I must say, however, "Good Omens" is one of my favorite books, you name tickles and delights me.

I think everyone's first entries are a little disjointed. I know mine were pretty funny that way. It gets easier after a while.

And no, you don't sound illiterate. Try hitting the 'random' button a few times - then you'll really see illiterate. :)

I looked all over my keyboard, no random button. I did find a button labelled "the rapture" which I am timid to push. I'm afraid I might inadvertantly cause the book of revelations to come to pass. This is worrisome not so much because of the content, but because it's so badly written, do we really want to risk ending the world in such a hamfisted literary style?

I know when I was at work, the escape key never did anything. They ought not to label things like that, when they don't work.

But no, this is the 'random' link under 'find users' along the left side of the LJ screen. After a few tries, you will be hoping for the rapture, planes falling out of the sky and cars without drivers and everything.
