My final photo project is going well; I have five passable prints out of ten so far, and may have time to make some perfect ones. Shooting BU construction has been a challenge- how can I make something that has been going on forever interesting and fresh? It's really fun trying to figure out how to make things eye-catching.

Lately, I've been having lucid dreams. I'd never had them before, and was skeptical of their existence because I always associated them with things like astral projection. My mom called me today to tell me that I got a check in the mail from the Picture People for about $150. That check was not a paycheck I missed- it was the tips that they owed me. The way the system works, I was supposed to get a dollar tip for every hundred dollars of pictures I sold, which works out to $15,000 worth of sales!? I probably did ( Read more... )

I think I've been transported to some crazy alternate reality where my photo professor actually LIKES my photos and knows my name. She said my photo essay idea (documenting BU construction) is great, and when I showed her my test prints she said the composition in all of them was very nice, and that I'm "seeing" things photographically. Every time I go to Basic Photo, I always seem to find myself repeatedly running the saying "that which does not kill us makes us stronger" through my head. ( More whining, yay! )

Once again, my camera is being pissy and ruining my photo homework. I don't know what to do with it anymore, and kind of feel like smashing the damned thing with a sledgehammer. Today, I decided to try to model something in Blender while not studying for my Philosophy midterm. It's been two years since I took a two week crash course in Maya, and Blender's an entirely different beast. I've officially gone through 100+ sheets of photo paper since I started Basic Photo. SO EXPENSIVE. My biggest problem is judging how much contrast the print needs; my professor thinks most of my prints are too muddy or gray. At lunch today, I was telling Kelly that my roommates watched "Legally Blonde: The Musical" for hours last night and that if I heard "OHMYGOD" one more time I would shoot myself. Immediately afterwards, one of the girls sitting at the table behind us exclaimed "OHMYGOD" in typical valley girl style, completely oblivious to what I'd just said. ( Read more... )
