Motorcyclist dies after Santa Ana crash
By RITA FREEMAN
The Orange County Register
SANTA ANA - A Huntington Beach motorcyclist was killed early this morning after hitting a dark-colored Hyundai that was blocking the car-pool lane on the southbound Costa Mesa (55) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
Ryan Cook, 23, was riding a black Honda CB570 at 12:25 a.m. in the car-pool lane just north of MacArthur Boulevard and hit the Hyundai, possibly a sport-utility vehicle.
Cook was thrown from his motorcycle, then was struck multiple times by oncoming cars, said California Highway Patrol officer Denise Quesada. Cook died at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on the southbound 55, Quesada said.
Santa Ana CHP is investigating the accident.
Authorities are looking for the dark-colored Hyundai with rear or side damage. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call (714) 567-6000.
RIP Ryan Dallas Cook
i dont know why but this really affected me. i dont normally feel like this when other celebrities pass away. i mean, yeah, its horrible, but i didnt really know them, so i cant really get to the point of really being truly down because of it. but i dont know why this affected me like this. maybe because i love the band so much? maybe a little bit, but probably not. maybe because he was so young? or because i actually saw him in person? or because he had so much going for him that was all just starting? its just so tragic how much he lost- just moving into a new place with his band, starting to record another album, starting to get pretty big- and it just makes me sad.
