Seventh Night - Part 3

The Vampire watches for a moment, to see if Hansel needed any help getting there

Hansel held his arm in front of him carefully, as if it were in a sling, and headed to the library. He paused, before he was out of sight. "How am I supposed to get all the stuff to the lab?"

"I'll have them brought over."

The boy flashed a smile. "Thanks, Dracula-sama!" He headed in the other direction, trying to find the lab.

The labs were quite straightforward as the instructions - one can hear the crackle of electricity and metal clanking in the distance, but they didn't come closer

He found the lab easily enough, and investigated it while he waited for his equipment to arrive. He'd never been in an alchemy lab before, and he was curious.

There were electronic equipment, newer and a stark contest to the visicious tubes of things along the far wall and a table full off ceremony tools.

The ceremonial tools drew his attention. He wondered idly what they were for.

Knives, spell books, various powders and liquids that would make a chemist sick with envy

Hansel reached out to inspect the powders and liquids, before glancing at the books. He was amazed that there were books in the castle other than the library, and wondered what was in them.

The books had many gylphs and imagery, and seem to be written in some kind of code

The boy frowned, when he couldn't read them. He wondered what they were about, especially when he saw images and sketches of different colored stones.

The sounds of things being set down can be heard behind Hansel

He started, dropping the book he'd been looking through.

Behind them were faceless dolls being directed by the vampire.

Hansel quickly picked the book up and put it back on the table, hoping he hadn't gotten caught snooping.

"There, be careful." Dracula pointed to an empty table as the dolls moved to his command

The boy left the ceremonial tools and moved to oversee his computer supplies.

"Is this to your liking?"

"Yes sir," he replied, excited to put all of the components together. 'Supercomputer' would be an understatement of the highest degree.

With a way, the dolls clattered and moved away, giving Hansel free space.

Hansel was carefully checking the components, and glancing for the took kit he knew was here. "Where did I...?"

Dracula found his seat. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, I thought there was a tool kit here, but I can't see it now."

Dracula scans the area, and picks up a black pouch. "Is this it?"

Hansel flushed. "Yeah, thanks..."

The vampire tosses it cover, and he doesn't seem to be leaving.

The boy caught it, and started opening up the tower. He carefully placed each piece in it, screwing them into place. He worked slow and deliberately, both to not jar his arm, and to not get a surge through the system.

The vampire watches him work, curious.

As soon as he'd gotten everything secure in the tower, he turned to the monitors and other peripherals, making sure everything was set up just like he wanted it on the table, before powering up the system.

"Well, is it in operational mode?"

Hansel hadn't realized Dracula was still there. "Huh? Yeah, it's working. I'll still have to install software, though. And we need internet connection, too, if I'm to hack any systems."

"And what would you need to have that available?"

"Well, a wired connection would be fastest, but I don't know if we can get that out here. Of course, I don't know if we could get wireless, either." The boy frowned, thinking.

The vampire listened. "Perhaps not tonight..."

"You think it's possible?"

"Yes."

Hansel leaned back. "That's good."

Dracula stood up. "I'll leave you to this, I will deal with matter of food."

The boy nodded, flipping through a book of CDs, finding the right one for the program he had to install. He'd be busy at this for hours.

The vampire started to walk away, leaving Hansel alone

Hansel didn't even notice when he left, he was so distracted with his new toy.
