here Fortunately either because of the Librarian's Nature, or the Vampire King's own analytical mindset, the library - vast as it is, is meticulously organized.
Omi eventually found a book that seemed to have something that might help him, and settled back down in a chair to read it.
The reading was dry, even a creature that doesn't need true sleep have to struggle to keep their eyes open, but it is indeed very informative, even if had a philosophical bent to it
Omi frowned. It made sense, in some ways, but, at the same time, so much of it went against what he knew from science and experience. Then again, so did vampires.
There's a dry, paper-sounding cough just behind and to the left of Omi
Omi froze, trying to hide the book he was reading.
"Finding something interesting, Young Master?" The Librarian questioned in his sonorous voice
"N-not really..." Omi made sure the book was behind him, so its title couldn't be read.
"You cannot fool these old eyes," He chuckled softly.
Omi glanced to the side. "Please don't tell Dracula?"
The Librarian frowned. "I can choose not to mention this, Though I am obligated to answer if he asks, young master. I would not suggest rebellion."
"It's not rebellion!" Well, not completely, at least. He just... wanted ways of making himself more independent.
"I am merely warning you. He has suffered deep betrayal before, and I dare not say what would happen if he were to experience it again."
"What happened?"
There's an odd expression on the man's face. "Perhaps I had spoken too much."
Omi pouted slightly. He hated being kept in the dark on things.
"His own child turned against him - I do not believe he fully recovered from the pain, but I advise that you do not mention that you know this."
"His own child?" Omi bit is lip. That was why he'd been recruited to Weiss, after all.
"He fell in love with one of his enemies and betrayed the Master."
"Oh..." Omi looked down.
The Librarian made a quiet sound. "He is a man who keeps everything close to his chest."
"Sounds like it..."
And as quietly as the Librarian appeared, he slipped away
Omi watched him go, thinking on things. It sounded to him that Dracula'd been hurt, just like he had. It made him wonder if they were similar in other ways.
It was all quiet as the grave.
Omi wondered what time it was. It couldn't have been too late, as Dracula hadn't come looking for him yet. He pulled the book back out from behind his back, and started to read again.
Hours past without incident when footfalls can be heard below
Omi was still trying to puzzle through the book, but he thought he was starting to understand it, and he didn't notice the footsteps.
It starts getting louder.
