AU!Ravenloft History
This is Omi's AU history (yes, it's an AU of an AU) set in Ravenloft, for threading with Shini.
Omi was born Garnar Muschette, of the noble Muschette family of Richemulot. However, unlike the dark hair of the rest of his family, Garnar's hair was much lighter, a honey blond common to the lower classes. Unable to be rid of the child, his father, Reinald, shipped him off to Darkon, where the boy would not be an embarrassment to him.
Growing up in Darkon, Omi lost his memories of Richemulot, as well as quickly becoming friends with another boy named Thomas, often playing the role of 'big brother' and protector to the younger boy. Of course, he also became the lead troublemaker, and his antics brought him to the attention of the Kargat, even at a young age. Though he was too young formally to join the secret society, he was trained as they were, with the intention of inducting him as soon as he was old enough.
When he was nearly of-age, he was sent on a scouting mission, and had the misfortune of falling into the Mists. Disoriented by the Mists, he stumbled out of Darkon, instantly recovering his memories of his childhood. Disoriented further from the recovered memories, he ended up in Valachan, near the Scarlet Maze.
Fascinated by the obviously-foreign boy, he was taken in by Lady Adeline, who brought him to Baron Kharkov. Impressed by the boy, who was able to move quickly and silently as a cat, Kharkov Turned him. Due to his lingering disorientation, and Kharkov's powers, Omi fell completely under his sway, forgetting even that he had come from anywhere else.
Omi doesn't know how long he was under Kharkov's control. From when he first entered the Mists, everything is a blur, until the fateful day he stumbled into a patch of Lilies of Eternal Slumber, and from there fell into the Arden River. He washed up just south of Rotwald, and was rescued by the witches of the Hospice of Healing Hands. Though they were fearful of the child-vampire, the group's leader chose to make use of the Tales of Ages, breaking the hold that Kharkov controlled Omi with. Knowing that Kharkov's powers did not reach past Valachan's borders, and that they could not keep the vampire there, they sent the disorientated boy into the Mists, praying that he would find safety on the other side.
It was through pure luck, that he would end up in Richemulot. Dazed, confused, and weak, he stumbled along until he picked up a familiar scent: that of Thomas. Following the only thing that he recognized, he made his way to Thomas' door, collapsing at it, and unable to enter in, even had he the strength. Thomas, hearing someone at his door, found Omi, and brought him inside before he realized what Omi was.
Despite his fear, Thomas nursed Omi back to health, helping him to recover his sense of self. Though Thomas didn't completely trust Omi, and Omi feared that Kharkov would find a way to control him again, the two worked out a deal. Omi would protect Thomas from those seeking to hurt him, and Thomas would allow Omi the use of his home to sleep during the day. Though their friendship is strained more than either could have imagined as children, they try to make it work as best they can, and work well as a team.
