G.I. Joe movie novels

So I ordered the G.I. movie noves at Amazon and receives them today. I started with the prequel novel G.I. Joe Above and Beyond. I have just finnished the first chapter, and so far I can say... I *LOVE* Ripcord. Seriously. Some of the lines he got are hilarious. Plus, the friendship between him and Duke is already shining through. I already skipped ( Read more... )

I bought the movie novelization but not the prelude. It came earlier this week but I haven't had time to read it yet.

Well, I couldn't resisit it. I speedread the other book I had been reading, then I started on Above and Beyond... and I'm craving it right now...

I'm still not sure how I feel about the movie, but I'm going to give it a view, I think. Are the books well-written enough? I might have to look for them.

I think they are. The author is Max Allan Collins, that was enough credit for me. I have to say, his take on the Joes is really interesting. The book "Above and Beyond" focuses primarily on Ripcord and Duke before they join the Joes. The latter ones do a play a part though, as an invisible support.
Appearing Joes are: Duke, Ripcord, Gung Ho, Scarlett, Breaker, Snake Eyes, Cover Girl, Hawk, Heavy Duty and in a small part: Lifeline.
