At the same time, Kate was a friend, a coworker, and someone who, in general, that he trusted with his life. So what to do? The decision was made for him when he ran smack dab into a hallway table (when had THAT gotten there?). He winced at the soreness in his hip, yet another injury due to Kate's proximity.

She turned sharply towards the doorway, momentarily freezing when she saw who was sitting there.
"Hey..." She said, fixing an awkward grin on her face, "...You look like hell."

He stood there uneasily, not quite sure whether to stay or to go. In the end, he opted to stay. He sat on the window seat, not quite next to her, but not completely distanced, either. Leaning back against the wall, he studied her critically, looking for...something. He wasn't quite sure what. She was different today, and he knew it wasn't just the catsuit.
"How you holding up?" he asked.

She held off commentary as long as she could, but he was doing that thing again. Giving her his best Freaky Eyes, scrutinizing, peeling back the layers to try and peep underneath. It was unsettling at best.
"Kind of feel like shit", she admitted, not specifying physical or emotional. It was most of one and part of another she wasn't ready to confront yet.
