Just finished watching season 11 of Supernatural for the first time

Favourite episodes included Baby naturally. I’d already heard about how great Baby was, and I’m pleased to say that it more than lived up to expectations there with being an excellent showcase for the brotherly relationship between Sam and Dean, and so cleverly edited. I confess that I had already seen the ‘night moves’ singing clip a few times ( Read more... )

I agree, the second half of s11 dragged. Hence why I put the show down and didn't start s12 until last week. The big mythos stuff doesn't do it for me either.

~puppy play~ with Lucifer and Crowley was quite cringey to watch.
Right?? :/

But then again, Baby is one of my favorite episodes of all time!! When the show gets back to its roots, it really does some great things. And Billie the reaper was so awesome. Sometimes I consider just looking up all the s12 episode synopsis' and skipping the ones that focus on the stuff I don't really care about.

And honestly it’s the kind of thing that I wouldn’t think twice about if I was reading it in a fanfic lol, but I just found it really embarrassing to watch onscreen, I had to keep turning away when Misha was really going for it with the ‘puppy’ stuff.

And I was enjoying season 11 a lot at first as well, idk I do question if it was partly the sheer length of the season (and my poor attention span not being used to that any more!) that left me feeling burnt out by it towards the end, just because this is the first 23 episode season I’ve watched in a while now which probably didn’t help with how much I was starting to feel it was dragging. It did feel to me like a lot of the arc was going on and on towards the end though, and I couldn’t get into most of it :shrugs:

I am thinking of whether I should jump into season 12 with just watching some select episodes, but it feels really weird to be considering skipping a bunch of episodes when I don’t normally watch tv like that *g*

It's funny that you mention that, because now that I think about it I don't watch any other shows with such long seasons. 23 episodes is a lot by today's standards, and maybe they relied too much on that one story-line.

Yeah, I've never skipped episodes for a show I'm watching either. It almost feels blasphemous to do it!

You always hear about how an arc would probably work better if it was bingewatched, but I wonder if that’s the case with some of the year-round shows like SPN, because for me I suspect it’s a show that works better watched on a weekly basis? It’s lot of episodes to spend on the same story arc otherwise, and it’s not really how many of us are used to watching tv these days frankly

And I don’t mind so much skipping episodes on a DVD rewatch, but yeah first time around at least I like to watch all of the episodes and come to my own opinions on them, so it probably would just drive me crazy if I did start skipping episodes with season 12 before even having an idea of what they are like :P
