Just finished watching Feud: Bette and Joan, and really enjoyed it. It had all the fun campy moments and one liners that you’d expect (‘Fuck off, Sylvia!’), but it was also a really poignant and timely look at how Hollywood treats women, and what it’s like to grow old in that business. And I can understand that actually, the one segment that seemed a little unnecessary to me was other actors (played by Kathy Bates and Catherine Zeta Jones) supposedly being interviewed years later to share their thoughts on the feud. That just seemed like a way to get some exposition across, and it was an odd choice considering that those interviews never happened in reality, but the miniseries could lead you to believe that they were real quotes as it was mostly trying to stay accurate with everything else

I watched Feud last year when it originally aired and enjoyed it very much. I LOVED the animated opening credit sequence, with its jazzy music and the minimalist silhouettes. You don't see lengthy intros like that to shows anymore, and it's sort of become a lost art.
I also loved the character of Mamacita. The actress played that role perfectly and IMO stole every scene she was in from Jessica Lange (which is pretty hard to do!).

That was my impression too, and I think a lot of it goes back to the whole "Mommie Dearest" persona that Joan Crawford was stuck with (rightly or wrongly) after her daughter's book came out (and the subsequent movie). I kept expecting there to be a scene in Feud where Crawford explains her hatred of wire hangers. ;D
