Some folks on my twitter timeline felt he goes a little too easy on her, doesn't condemn her actions strongly enough.
I think he just seems confused, can't reconcile the girl he knew with the horrible news stories and doesn't know what to say. Actors who were around seasons 8 - 10 might have noticed the cult creeping into her life & work more and more, perhaps. But perhaps not. Actors are good are compartmentalizing.
He's evidently uncomfortable discussing it and the host kept pushing it long after Michael was ready to stop talking about it. I hope now he's addressed it, it won't come up at any of the upcoming conventions for him or Tom.

Yeah I can see that I suppose, but it makes sense to me that he would just be baffled at the stories he’s now hearing about someone who always seemed like a sweet person to him, it’s a very natural reaction to have really when you only saw one side of a person and don’t know what to make of the stories coming out about them since

Nothing that new really, he mostly just talks about how there was never any indication on the set of SV that she was into anything like that, although he does remember her talking about some self-help group a few times which he thought sounded a bit cult-like. He also says that he never really hung out with her and knew her all that well, just because Kristin and Allison were both 18 when they started on SV, while he was a lot older and didn’t have as much in common with them, but that Allison did always seem really sweet
He says that him and a former producer on SV discussed how shocked they were, and he also talked about it with Tom Welling. He speculates that she was probably brainwashed and manipulated by the older guy, and focuses on how sad he finds it all
He didn’t seem sure if he should answer or not at first, which I can understand as it’s a lot to get into when it’s the crimes of a former co-star you’re discussing, but yeah he definitely handled it well and it was interesting to hear his thoughts on it all
I don't think I've ever seen Michael be this calm and gracious for such a long a period of time. He's usually so all over the place being crazy (he kinda reminds me of a ping pong ball) that it's quite refreshing to see him talk about a VERY difficult subject and remain this CLASSY. I'm very impressed by his diplomacy and respectfulness. Tough subject though, whew.

Definitely, it’s always fun to watch convention videos with Michael because he seems to just have nonstop energy, whereas he does come off as a lot more thoughtful here and almost shellshocked as he’s trying to work out how he feels about it and what he can say. I was certainly glad that he didn’t play along with the hosts stupidity
