What I’ve been watching on Netflix recently

Watching the new Black Mirror episode Bandersnatch was certainly an interesting experience! I thought it was a very cool concept with all of the different paths you could choose, although admittedly I don’t have the patience that some people had when it comes to spend apparently four hours or more on all of the different options. I think I spend ( Read more... )

I feel like You was a train wreck that you want to stop watching because of how problematic it is but you just can’t because it’s so compelling!

Haha yes, it was hard for me to get into at first when it was so much from Joe’s POV and I couldn’t really get attached to any of the characters, that’s usually a must for me, but it definitely has that train wreck quality where you just want to see what happens next.

I've heard a lot about You - I'll have to check it out soon.

That’s mostly why I was curious to check it out, it seems to have become a bit of a pop culture phenomenon since landing on Netflix! Well and plus I was interested to see Penn Badgley and Shay Michell in different roles from their GG and PLL characters

My friend keeps telling me to watch YOU but the description doesn't sound like something that appeals to me... well... maybe when I have too much time on my hands I will try :D

Yeah I didn’t think it would appeal to me at first either, and honestly I’m still not sure what I think about it. I wouldn’t call it a must watch or anything, his constant narration took me out of it a bit in the beginning for a start (although it does grow on you!), plus I struggled to get very attached to the characters, but still there is definitely something compulsively watchable about it after a while. I found it to be very good at self-aware black comedy

Thanks for the review of "You." I've been wondering if I should check it out and it sounds like I probably should.

I would say that it’s certainly a thought provoking show that lends itself to discussions, which is perhaps why it’s become so buzzed-about since landing on Netflix. I’ve come across sooo many articles now discussing viewer response to Joe and the central ‘romance’

I just renewed my subscription this month, primarily to keep up with new episodes of The Good Place, and then see what else is on there. Honestly though I never really know what to watch next! I have so many shows added to my list that look interesting, but then I end up getting really overwhelmed about what to actually sit down and watch, especially when there’s so much new content being added all the time that you can never keep up with it all. It sounds silly to say that a steaming service is proving too much choice lol, but it does kind of feel that way quite honestly, especially with all of Amazon Prime offerings to sort through as well!

I feel the same way about not knowing what to watch next. There's either too many choices or not enough in what I like... it depends on the day and my mood or whatever. I can go weeks without going on to watch and then I binge watch whatever I left when I go back...

Heh yes, I find that I can bingewatch comedies at absolutely anytime, but for a lot of dramas especially I really need to be in the right frame of mind to start watching. And even then I sometimes get this weird panicky feeling about what I should watch next and in what order, it’s a bit strange actually how overwhelming I can find it really because it’s just entertainment at the end of the day, but for some reason I can get quite stressed when I’m trying to decide on what to watch
