Remembering Jeremy Brett

I signed the petition asking for a posthumous BAFTA award for Jeremy Brett, of course, and will be glad to support any action of the same kind. I'd like to approach two other subjects in relation to Jeremy's memory.  First,  at Clapham Commons, stands Jeremy's tree, but with no inscription such as:" this tree was planted to honour J.B, actor (1933- ( Read more... )

Hello!
First off thank you for supporting the petition !! That was very kind. As to the questions you can leave comments on the offical petition website

http://www.bafta4jb.com/

I know they will be read and discussed :) But regarding Jeremy's tree, i dont think there is an inscription there because of the risk it would attract vandalism. The recent scare over his tree on the JB LJ Group was evidence of that although it was proven to be a hoax after i checked with the Clapham Common Society which looks after his tree. As to Whyndhams, well you are right, there is a plaque in the theatre dedicated to Jeremy Brett which i beleive Edward Hardwicke had made to commerate Jeremy and i think i am right in saying the play as well. Why it is not featured on the theatre website i dont know :(

Thanks once again !! :)

I agree entirely about Jeremy's tree at Clapham Commons. But the person who has planted the tree DOESN'T WANT any plaque. I found the tree myself: a horse chesnut tree, near the cafeteria. BAFTA answered our petition for a posthumous Bafta for Jeremy Brett by NO. So, BAFTA4JB decided to honour Jeremy by its own means: a tree has been bought, and will be planted in autumn by the Woodland Trust in the Flagship Diamond Wood, Normanton le Heath, Leicestershire. And there WILL BE A PLAQUE, this time, with: In fond memory of Jeremy Brett, the Man who mastered the Master. Last time I went to London, I visited Wyndhams Theatre, and asked to see the photograph. I saw it, and took some pics. It's in a little corner of the bar. Only people who come to watch a play are allowed in the bar. But I was so persistent (but polite)that they let me go and have a look...I don't know what we can do more. After Bafta answer, I'm quite disgusted with the "powers that be"...
