On the side...

I quickly mentioned "Contorno" in a previous entry to say that I mostly liked the ending scene and one scene from the opening sequence, despite snails being on the menuI won't ramble on about what I liked or not, but here I want to linger on the opening scene I liked, because it focused on the Bedelia/Hannibal relationship and because Mads ( Read more... )

Your interp of this scene is fascinating! I love how much you love this guy! I'm curious about how you're separating (or not) Mads from Hannibal.

I know this season (and most of last) have been all over the map. I'm still not happy with this season, but happier than I was with most of last season.

My take on that scene is total fear. I don't see Bedelia as being in control any more on any level. She seems, to me, to be a sacrifice or a suicide. She seems as though she is moving towards a terrible fate which is completely seductive to her. AND I don't think they've consummated their relationship and that she is wanting to be completely CONSUMED by him....the idea of a live snail moving through a digestive system...sums up her desire for him, imo.

When I watch the show I let the magic do its work so I only see Hannibal Lecter (so I loved seeing Jack kick his ass!), but when I look at the pictures it's less easy to separate the character from Mads, especially this season. As I said in a previous entry they seem to have realised they have a sex symbol on board ( ... )

*nods* I really want to believe this. I WANT her to be strong and still retaining some integrity and control...but I'm not feeling that.

The female charas have been so poorly handled. What the hell has happened to Alanna?????

That fight scene was a beautiful dark ballet. Those two should make videos together!!

We'll see.

Lawrence Fishburne has been terrific in the last three episodes and he's such a screen presence. If Jack Crawford wasn't already my favourite character, he would be now. Hannibal can't fuck with Morpheus, period. :- P

I guess that I enjoy the Bedelia/Hannibal material because it's refreshing. No matter the changes they make, I am not a big fan of the plots taken from the books/movies like the Pazzi storyline or the Mason Verger plot. I fear the second half of this season, when they tackle the Red Dragon stuff.
