They portrayed Bush as a monkey too, but he looked way more like a chimp than Obama does.

That being said!! This is obviously a racist jab- African Americans have been portrayed as monkeys since the beginning. How could it ever be interpreted otherwise?

Even if it wasn't their intention, you'd think some editor would be smart enough to think "Hmmm, maybe linking a bullet-ravaged ape to our first black president might get a few people slightly upset."

No, no, the message is simple: the bill is so dumb that a monkey probably wrote it (ergo, the Post is headed by monkeys dumb enough to hate the stimulus bill that much).

It's a reference to this awful story. So many people heard about this rampage and were all "LOL IT'S A CHIMP SO IT'S FUNNEH!!!" but it just makes me want to cry.

Everything about that is tragic. THe woman who owned the animal could not take care of him, because he was a huge chimp, and her friend paid the ultimate price - she's going to be disfigured for life, if she survives.
