Gaming - In French...?

Jan 15, 2011 15:54

Yep, it's not a secret, I enjoy gaming.

Some of you have mentioned an interest in practicing French with me, to either develop or maintain their skills in their second language. Some have mentioned that they had, in the past, either hosted or attended to gaming or RPGs in French.

Hence, I'm considering to host gaming nights as a fun opportunity to ( Read more... )

Yes, I'd love that! I'm very shy about speaking French but my skills are decent. Your house is very accessible for me. Wednesdays could work, for now anyway (we sometimes have D&D on Wednesdays, but maybe our DM (the_arachne) would enjoy joining us for French games sometimes.

If Wednesdays work with most of the participants, then I believe that it will not be hard to have it "every other Wednesday" (as mentioned by Metawidget on DW), so it doesn't interfere with your D&D... ;)

I know that you've got a terrific French (I recall your draft translation), and I guess that it could less intimidating to practice it in an enjoyable activity, with people that are together especially for that purpose! And if your DM wants to join, I guess that it would be great! :)

I could be coaxed. I think biweekly would work best for me. I know for me, I would benefit the most from being at a table with more advanced French speakers, or at least one.

Great! I think that bi-weekly will help to concentrate people (rather than sharing), which will allow a more interesting crowd. :)

Not to mention that with people such as matei101 and myself (Francos), and as ironpheonix, metawidget and yourself (very advanced), I guess that having a couple of strong French speakers per table! ;)

Yep, I'm interested, but Wednesdays are out for a few more weeks at least. In March, an RPG ends and I'll be able to do a little life-restructuring. I won't want to play every week, but it would be fun on occasion!

That would be terrific! It will not start before I'm completely moved in (so we get an other few weeks), and I guess that it's really worth for the good of the exercise to try to accommodate to have a gamer of your strength, both strong as a gamer and in French!
;)

Uh, what ^ he said ^ . My Wednesday availability is quite similar to ironphoenix's, tied to, one might say.
If we do join, I may be a once a month person, as I guard my time at home quite jealously, but there would be no hard and fast rules on how often I'd attend.

Hum... I hope Wednesdays then don't interfere with what I now believe that you have on your schedule: that would not be good... :(
... And if so, I _do_ understand why you say "as I guard my time at home quite jealously", and I don't want to take _any_ of that precious time away from you...

*Hopeful* However, do I understand by ironphoenix' post that dedicated nights may be rescheduled in March...?

Of course, attendance is on an "as and when available" basis, so you can join whenever you wish! I just want to make sure that the activity is scheduled on a regular basis, as it makes it easier for participants to schedule their attendance... :)
