Hello, yuletide, how lovely to see you! Especially since you are officially the only time I'm consistently productive all year.

This marks Yuletide number eight for me, and the fourth Misses Clause Challenge I'll be running with martinigrl, my partner in crime. Once again, Yuletide participants are allowed up to six requests (which you'd think would make my ( Read more... )

Your Sleepy Hollow prompt is so thoughtful and on point! I don't think I could do it justice, but I hope someone ends up writing this.

Thank you so much! I worried about how it would read, and considered scrapping it entirely, but I want it so badly. This show has been delightful to watch, as a black woman, but every time Ichabod spouts some random fact, this is exactly the thought that eats at me. I hope there's someone out there just waiting to tell this story. :)

Yeah, I've really enjoyed having a straight white male lead who's explicitly against racism/sexism/homophobia, but sometimes I think the show writers take the easy way out with him/his enlightened viewpoint. They could definitely push at the nuances a little more: modern America is fraught with racial tensions, and there really aren't easy answers. I'd love to see Ichabod and Abbie discuss those complexities with the same humor/respect they do on the show.

(Although I could see why the writers are opting for the lowest common denominator, given how generally terrible the US is about having these conversations on a larger scale)

That's it exactly. I think Wiseman & Co. aren't sure at all how to handle the elephants in the room, so they handwave it away with Ichabod Crane, the Most Progressive Colonial Man Who Ever Lived. It absolutely works in the moment, because they're just so damn charming about the things they do confront, but you're left with that lingering sideeye.

Your Scandal prompts look almost exactly like mine would've, if I ended up requesting it. ♥ I love how most of the fandom has reached the consensus that Fitz should just be forgotten or written out from stories.

I hope someone writes you that Joint mission to feed Fitz laxative soup prompt, I'd love to read that! :)

It thrills me to no end that, for the second year in a row, Scandal has a huge character set and Fitz is not among them. THRILLS ME, I tell you.
