time to vent boys and girls...

here's the thing. i am a creature of habit. i eat the same thing at the same resturants. i watch the same t.v. shows that i tivo. and like carrie bradshaw once noticed of herself, i date the same guy over and over and over again. but is that so bad? i used to be the "no type" type, but lately, i feel like i've dated the tattooed, rock 'n roll boy ( Read more... )

If you keep comparing every guy to yourself, you'll always come out disappointed. We're all different. Yes, you have a type; everyone does, but I think it's in our [female] DNA to have unrealistic expectations that in the end only hurt us. We have lists of requirements for the men we date. If all of the items don't get checked off, the dude is out the door or worse yet, we settle for that. Moreover, it's in human nature to always want more; what we have is never good enough. You have to take the bad with the good, always. I think you need to evaluate this guy beyond the material values and get to the core of what it is about him that you want or don't want and make a decision from that. Don't settle for him if he's not what you want. Brit, you're still young! You know that, right? You're not some old maid who lives with 30 cats. Don't stress about it. I know it's cliche, but searching for something like love is fruitless. It's tough, hell yes it is, but just trust God that he's going to take care of it.

Love ya.

I don't know a whole lot about the scene you're going for but I've heard of a few people that we might mutually know going to this place called "STATUS" or something? It's a church thing and lots of hipsters I know go.

oh girl!! i used to think the same exact way!! for some reason, for about six years, i had to date dudes in bands or that were involved in the music scene somehow. i guess i didn't have to, but that is the crowd i hung around and that is just what i liked so naturally, i dated guys that were into that very same thing ( ... )

sometimes going outside your tpe can be surprisingly rewarding. different doesn't mean bad. does taste in clothes and music take precedence over spirituality and treating you right?

omg! of course that superficial stuff doesn't take precedence! all i meant by that was that it seems to be those are the guys i end up going for every time. of course i want a guy who, like i said, is as spiritually strong as me, or even stronger. the times i've hung out with people who are outside of my box, i agree, it has been really cool because my eyes have been opened to completely different things. i guess i am good for a while, in being independent that is, and then suddenly i'll have a burst of lonliess and think about why i'm single and how i don't wanna be anymore. haha. oh well, like ashli said, i'm young, it'll happen. :)
