Clay arrived at the house early Friday morning and got everything set up for a summer spent on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay. He made a trip to the grocery store to pick up everything they'd need all weekend plus his usual case of merlot.

He spent the rest of the morning putting out the deck furniture and making sure all the rooms they'd need to use were ready to go by the time Annie arrived.

Around 7PM he heard a car stop in his driveway and checked the security camera, Annie in the corvette. Clay made sure dinner was well on its way to being finished before meeting Annie at the door, "Hi."

When the door open, her grin only widened and she practically skipped up the steps, taking a deep breath in.

"Is it bad that the first thing I want to do is go and see all your imported sand?" She had to tease, she really did. Then, because it was customary to actually greet her host, she leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Hi, Clay."

Yes, she'd seen him at the coffee stand the day before, but this was much more private and intimate and they would likely be much more private and intimate together before the weekend was over. "Let me get my things."

"I'll help."

He assumed that Annie knew he'd help carry her things without his announcement, but it made the fact that he was headed to her car before she was a little less strange.

Clay couldn't help himself as he checked out the corvette, it was a very nice car.

"You know you don't have to do that," she called from behind him, even as she followed. The fact was, she'd only brought a single duffel and the grocery bag with her and so, when he lifted the bag from her backseat, she added, "I'll get the groceries. Well, wine and twinkies."

It couldn't be a shock. He knew how she was.

It could have been ten minutes, it could have been twenty, but when she finally opened her eyes and stretched, she curled herself around him even more and tilted her head up toward him.

"It's been a longer day than I realized. If I'm not careful, I'll fall asleep out here."

"At least there's no threat of sunburn right now."

Clay lightly rubbed her shoulder, trying to keep the relaxed mood that started the evening off.

"Maybe we should go up to bed."

Annie's laughter was soft and she ducked her head again. "That's a very good point. But you're right. We should go inside."

His statement led her to believe that he didn't think they were sleeping in separate bedrooms, either.

Clay figured that the second bedroom was just to make Annie feel more comfortable than anything else. He also didn't want her to think he expected that they were going to sleep together.

"Yes, we should."

Annie didn't wake up until the sun had already started to come in through the window and when she did, she was alone.

Taking a deep breath, she stretched a little and then savored the moments that she had of just being alone with nowhere to be. Vacations were so few and far between anymore that having the opportunity to relax-- A smile broke over her face.

Webb.

He was probably downstairs, which meant that she could go down there and have coffee and enjoy a morning with him. Like a lazy Sunday, but all weekend. The idea made her smile turn into a grin and she swung her legs over the edge of the bed.

She ran her fingers through her hair and contemplated doing something with it before going to find him. Instead, she bounced down the stairs in her t-shirt and found him on the back deck. "Morning."

Clay woke up about an hour before Annie appeared on the deck. During that hour he managed to slide out of bed, start a pot of coffee and head out to the deck to enjoy the morning at his beach house. He figured Annie would be down soon enough.

When he heard her come out on the deck, he turned and smiled, "Good morning." First thing's first, "Coffee's in the kitchen."

Without another word, she turned to go get herself a cup of coffee, then she rejoined him on the deck, still in nothing but the Harvard t-shirt. She figured that she'd long ago stopped shocking him with her beach house clothing.

She'd gone from being barefoot to being half-naked on the deck in the morning. As she partook of the coffee, her bliss (as always) showed on her face. "Perfect."

Clay didn't remember her bare feet, but he did notice that she was half naked. Maybe it came from waking up next to her, but he couldn't help but check her out over the rim of his coffee mug.

"You slept pretty well last night."
