Travel Photots?

As you all know, I'll be taking my first big trip next summer. I have a question for all of you on my friend's list:

Do you think taking photos while travelling enhances or takes away from the experience?

Hmm. That is a really difficult question! I've been on trips to Costa Rica, Bermuda, London, Paris, and Rome, and I was with my family so we did take lots of pictures. I think it really depends on if you -want- pictures. If you do, then taking them will be a really fun part of the experiance and enhance it. However, if you're a fourteen year old who just doesn't want to be late to Wimbledon becuase you're dying to see your favorite tennis player, hold ups like photo ops are just obnoxious. I keep a journal when I go places, and for me, I'd much rather read that and remember how we felt looking at those places, funny things people said and ridiculous mishaps with tickets and ruined hotel reservations.

I think it definitely enhances. I'm going on vacation this summer and plan on taking a million photos.

Oohhh!!!!! Where you going?
Yes, definatley take pictures!!!!
You'll be more likely to remember it that way and it will serve as a reminder for the future when you want to re-live the experience.

Well ... both. It takes your attention away a bit from what you're experiencing, but it also offers wonderful memories for later on. I'd suggest trying to balance it a bit -- take some shots, but don't go through the thing with a camera glued to your eye.
