My parents told me to ignore bullies as a child. I’ve got to say that never actually worked. They just escalated.True. My parents were peaceful, non-aggressive types, and encouraged myself and my sister to be the same. "Walk away, don't engage with them", they recommended. While neither mom nor dad were deeply religious, it was surely an example of classic Christian teachings: turn the other cheek ( ... )

Because after the election, I realized I had done my father a disservice for the last 30 years. When I called this or that person a misogynist, when I called Trump a misogynist, that’s not what I meant. I protected him from certain truths of what life is like as a woman.

Thanks for this. It really made me think about how I'm protecting my own father from certain truths.

Wonderful post, and I hope that the call to action won't fade and that we can continue to fight.
