Bangers, peas and my first attempt at a sweet potato mash, 18 minutes is long enough to boil them mashed with chopped raw onion a little garlic and butter with black pepper. Not bad but I think I prefer it with ordinary potatoes

I was invited to the Hindu Divali festival and dinner in the banqueting room of the town hall. It was superbly well organised and a big success for everyone there. The Lancaster mayor gave a short speech.but not quite short enough. It is a festival of light, colour, dance and music.

This morning I decided to stop procastrinating before I go blind and to start solving some of my problems. I booked a flight home in September so that was an easy one solved. Now for a major problem one a little more challenging.

It's been a good week here for me. Saturday and Sunday at Cerny Dum for Jiri and Evca's barbecues. Ivanka brought in a ton of food for me on Tuesday.. Some rather nice schnitzels, potato pancakes enough to last me a couple of days. I've also got another invite for a russian meal.

Last Summer at Marianbad is a classic film.  A classic film is always old, usually in black and white, often in a foreign language with sub titles and is usually very boring  with an incomprehensible plot.  This film meets all these criteria,  It is set in the spa town Karlovy Vary (it was part of the Sudentenland and the German name was Marianbad ( Read more... )
