of course. the nebulous concept of "fun". suppose i draw my fun from viewing plays rather than participating in them. or suppose, if you are more acid-tongued, that i am not fun and do not understand what it is.

No need t'get defensive, Miss. If it's not yer style, thass' no business of mine. S'just a matter of taste to each 'n every person.

my apologies. being accused of not knowing how to have fun in the past has left a bad taste in my mouth, as it were.

Halloween was originally a Celtic holiday known as the "Day of the Dead" where it was believed the line between the living world and the dead world disappeared and so the dead came to cause problems for the living. People would thus dress up in costumes and masks to mimic evil spirits or to placate these spirits.

That is far more interesting than simply "for fun". Thank you, C.C.

I hope you do not mind, but perhaps I can add to what the others have already been said.

Halloween in many places has become a night for young children to travel in costume and receive candy from neighbors, while the older children often play pranks and tell scary stories to one another. It is a time to celebrate all things spooky and supernatural, and can be quite fun.

After all, free treats are something all can enjoy.

ah. being more than a child, i suppose it is understandable that i am not springing to participate. though in a city like this, it is difficult to distinguish the line between supernatural and reality.

it depends on the treats being offered, does it not?

Indeed, but what is offered often depends upon the tastes of the one offering. Know that, and your objective becomes simple.

in that case, it is perhaps very dangerous to search for handouts here.
