Zana_zira, I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. I agree with you about Dean's vulnerability. That is one of the truly intriguing aspects of his character, that he can be such a total bad ass and also so very vulnerable. He does need people, and connection... you are so right that Sam is his lifeline.

Woooowwwww. Thank you for this look into Sam's headspace and for all the feelings he lets out with the therapist and all the truth and all the faults he acknowledges about his brother and himself. I love that Sam acknowledged that Dean went to hell and left Lisa and Ben for him and killed Benny for him and these were all sacrifices that Dean did suffer from. I love that at the end he knew exactly how Dean felt at his hospital bed. So heartbreaking and such a great look at all the problems they face without taking sides. Kudos. And ending it where you did was a stroke of genius.

Show gives us so little of Sam's thoughts to latch onto and I think you covered that lack brilliantly.

Thank you so much, tifaching. I so agree that we've been given barely a glimpse into Sam's headspace this season. I think that's why I needed to write this!

Incredibly well done. You've taken something that has seemingly divided a lot of fandom and, instead of trying to push the case for one brother over another for who is right and who is wrong, you've put it under a light that makes a hell of a lot of sense and doesn't place blame anywhere. Your OC was great, I liked him a lot. Well done.

Your kind words are very much appreciated, reggie11. I'm so glad you liked Brian, and that you felt both brothers were dealt with with empathy - this is what I hoped for.

Thank you so much for commenting, gone_ashore. Uh oh - now I'm going to have the "Dean session" plot bunny percolating in my head! Or better yet, a session with them both - what Brian recommended! :) I will have to give both of those scenarios some serious thought. Actually, a family therapist usually would see the person who hadn't been there the first time on his own before putting the two with the issue together. Hmmmm.....

Wow, that was amazing, Sam and Dean really need something like that. I liked the way Sam glossed over the supernatural parts, about the 'cult'. The ending was especially heart breaking, as Sam goes off to do whatever it takes to bring Dean back, :,(

Thanks, evelyncarver. Yes, I really had to struggle a bit with that: what on earth would Sam say about their lives that would get enough across but not get him committed? So glad the "cult" thing worked!
