"Carry On Wayward Son..." at just the right moment

Aug 22, 2014 20:19

I was driving about, feeling a bit down in the mouth because I am thousands of miles from Van Con, when my Supernatural playlist ran out. I was on a major roadway and couldn't mess with my phone to restart it, so I sighed and switched on the radio.

They were playing "Carry On Wayward Son."

What are the odds? *grin*

When I hear the song on the radio I always wonder how many SPN fans are singing along with me!

I know! Me, too! (Is that silly?) I sometimes wonder if the guys at the station who put the song on have any idea what it means to some of us out here. :)

Definitely not silly! On a rock station over here in the UK, they do a game where they play a bunch of songs and you have to guess what the connection to all the tracks is. I never know the answer, but one day I shouted out loud at the radio when figured out the connection for the set of tracks was 'songs on Supernatural'!!!

Aw, nothing's like stumbling upon Carry On My Wayward Son randomly on the radio.
I trust that you sang along. :) It just happened to me the other day and I grinned like an idiot the whole time.

Of course I sang along. Loudly. lso grinning like an idiot. :)

The next evening, it kind of happened again. I was feeling a bit melancholy as I got into my car. I turned her on and the radio came on, too, with "Lonely is the Night" playing. I sang that one, too, but with a mood a bit more somber thanks to its associations...

Ouch, Lonely is the Night is much less pleasant. Not that Carry On is such a cheery song, but the association to show compensates on the lyrics.
I love when the radio does that, when it's sorta channels your feelings and pop with just the right song at the right moment. :)

It really is amazing. It's kind of like "book karma" -- when you stumble upon a book containing exactly the message or inspiration you needed just THEN. Guess it works that way with TV shows, too. I sure discovered Supernatural just when I really needed something. :)
